Towable Welders

These diesel-powered welders feature smoother arc characteristics and more consistent, quality welds. Multiquip's simultaneous operation models range from 180 to 500 amps as welders and 3 to 14kW as generators.

Diesel-Powered Welder/Generators

These diesel-powered welder/generators feature the smoothest arc characteristics producing more consistent and higher quality welds with a trained operator. Multiquip's simultaneous operation models (AC/DC used at the same time period) range from 180 to 500 amps as welders and 3 to 14kW as generators.

Welding is the process by which materials are joined together. Welding is done by melting the workpieces and adding a filler material to form a pool of melted material, which later cools and hardens to form a strong joint between the two pieces. There are many different energy sources that can be used to weld. The welding process can be done by a gas flame, an electric arc, a laser, an electron beam, friction and ultrasound.

The process of arc welding uses a welding power supply to maintain an electric arc between an electrode and the base material. This cases the filler material to melt at the welding point. The most common gas welding process is oxyfuel welding, also known as oxyacetylene welding. Employing the combustion of acetylene in oxygen to produce a welding flame temperature of more than 3000C. The flame, since it is less concentrated than an electric arc, causes slower weld cooling, which can lead to greater residual stresses and weld distortion, though it eases the welding of high alloy steels.

Ususally the welder can judge the quality of a weld by its strength and the strength of the material surrounding it. Many spacific factors influence the welding strength, including the welding method, the amount and concentration of heat input, the base material, the filler material, the flux material, the design of the joint, and the interactions between all these factors.

Gciron.com offers several varities of Multiquip welders, both portable and towable are avaliable. Both diesel powered machines, the portable welders are ideal for the welder that has a minimal welding job to get done. The portable welders range from 5.5hp to 18hp, great power for a quick job. The towable welders work as both a welder and a generator. The towable welders range from 180 to 500 amps, and simultaneously the generator ranges from 3 to 14kW. GCiron.com has in-depth information on various Multiquip welding machines, and is happy to help with any additional information needed.

GCIron highly recommends the MultiQuip BLW400SS for structural welding. The BLW400SS can have two men welding at the same time with 200 amps each person. This MultiQuip welder is quiet at 67 dBA.
